The time is almost here once again. Art students have been making bowls, the donations are rolling in, and the soup is ready to be made. This year Empty Bowls will be held on Friday February 1st from 5:00 to 7:30. This is right before the Boys Varsity Basketball game against Marquette, so you won’t be missing a thing.
If you didn’t already know, Empty Bowls is an event meant to raise awareness to hunger. It started as an international event, and many organizations have adopted it to help out local communities.
In the Falls, students in elementary school and ceramics classes create bowls, which are then sold at the event. These empty bowls serve as a reminder that there are people living in hunger around the world. The people buying the bowls get a small piece of bread, a cup of water, and a disposable bowl for some soup. All of the proceeds go to the Menomonee Falls Area Food Pantry ,and it was such a success last year that the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) at our high school was asked to do it again this year.
The NAHS hopes for a bigger turnout this year, and everyone in the community is invited. Tickets are available on the night of the event, and if you have any questions please ask a NAHS student or Mrs. Chmielewski.
