Action movies today, in my opinion need something unique about them to keep me entertained, and Dredd definitely has something unique about it, the use of slow-motion. Now most action movies use slow-motion, but Dredd uses it in such a unique way. In the movie, there is a drug going around that makes life feel like it is moving in slow-motion. It is really interesting and it was well integrated into the story. The next great thing about this movie, the antagonist, Ma-Ma. Lena Headey was so great in this role, she was just plain sinister, she definitely stole the show. Not to say the other cast was not good. Karl Urban was great as Judge Dredd, he was like Batman from the Dark Knight Trilogy, but way more hardcore. I thought the addition of a sidekick that was psychic was cliché, but similar to the slow-motion, they made it unique with a great performance by Olivia Thirlby.

This movie is truly underrated, easily one of the best movies of 2012 9.5/10
