Looper is a sci-fi/action film that takes place in the not too distant future of 2044.  At this point in time, time travel has not been invented, but in the year 2074, it will have been.  Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a specialized assassin, called a looper, who kills targets that are sent to him from the future.   Problems arise, however, when Levitt’s character, who is also named Joe, fails to kill his future self.  The story then picks up as young Joe tries to end his future and old Joe seeks to fix his past.

Of all the movies I’ve seen, Looper easily stands out as one of my favorites.  From the beginning, it has a somewhat layered and complex plot, but is still easy to follow.  The story is well balanced by some great action scenes and plenty of suspense.  Without giving away too much, I’d like to say that the ending was one of the best I’ve ever seen.  I wouldn’t have had it end any other way.  All of these things are complemented by amazing actors all across the board.  If you like a movie that makes you think and keeps you on the edge of your seat, Looper is a must see.
