If you listen to the music on radio stations like 103.7, what are the topics of those songs? Love, breaking up, love, partying, getting drunk, love, maybe calling people, calling people on pay phones, breaking up, and partying. What do all those topics have in common? They’re all either meaningless or they’re cliche.

For example, these are lyrics from Justin Bieber’s new song, Beauty and a Beat: “We gonna party like it's 3012 tonight, I wanna show you all the finer things in life, So just forget about the world, we're young tonight, I'm coming for ya, I'm coming for ya” . The lyrics here represent nothing deeper than partying like the world is ending. A fine example of meaningless lyrics as well as cliche lyrics.

Now, these are lyrics from Texas in July’s song, One Reality: “So your existence has not become clear, but it seems to be halfway there, If we could only independently stand up to show the world that we can be anything.” One Reality is about having a choice, and it’s up to you to make the right one. No, these lyrics aren’t sung or autotuned, they’re screamed. But what better way to get a message across than to scream it. You only scream for the things you believe in.
