This is a reminder to all students who drive to school.  You must have a valid Semester 1 parking tag or a temporary parking pass displayed in the front window of your vehicle to be parked in the high school parking lots.  You must also be parking in your designated area.  If you receive a parking ticket, do not come to the main office. You will receive a court date to meet with a judge, if you choose, to discuss the ticket.

Auditions for the Fall Play "Stage Door" will be held TONIGHT and TOMORROW from 5:30 - 8:30 in the auditorium. You will need to have a prepared monologue ready. Please see the theatre doors or the MFHS Theater Department Facebook page for more information.

Junior girls who are interested in learning more about the Distinguished Young Women Scholarship Program are invited to attend an Information Meeting  TOMORROW at 3:30 PM in the high school library.  See the 2015 Distinguished Young Women of Menomonee Falls Facebook page for more details.

 

Study Abroad in China this Summer!  A unique opportunity is now available for all Menomonee High School Students.  Students can earn up to four college credits during July 2014 while traveling and studying in China.  A group of MFHS students chaperoned by our own teachers will be spending a month traveling to major cities, staying in homes of Chinese families and studying Chinese language and history in classrooms.  As part of a partnership with UW Colleges, students can earn ½ a credit toward high school graduation AND college credits for coursework completed with a grade of C or better.  No prior Chinese language knowledge is necessary.  Please come to a parent/student meeting TOMORROW at 6 p.m. in the high school library to learn more about this opportunity!  See Mrs. Wanta in room 239 for more information.

Radiography and Dental Hygienist programs are now open for Fall 2014 enrollment!! Deadline for Waukesha residents is Tuesday.  Out of county residents deadline is Jan 1st, 2014.

 

CLUBS

Attention any seniors who still want to order a senior t-shirt:  Ms. Kiefer is placing another order on Tuesday.  Get her your $10 and your size TODAY or Tuesday and you will get your shirt before the senior class picture.  See Ms. Kiefer in Room 248.

The Thassophobia Submission of the Week is “imagination” by Marilyn Martinson. Check it out online on the Smoke Signals site or in the Thasso display case. Submit your poetry or prose to the Thasso box in the library or Room 144. Meetings are Thursday’s after school.

 

Have you ever felt like you just don’t have enough opportunities to discover the beauties that mathematics has to offer?  Have some mad math skillz that you want to share with the world?  Then math club is for you!  Come to room 253 this Thursday to get more information.  Mr. Ulrich will be there attempting to divide by zero blindfolded and standing on a chair!

 

 

SPORTS

The JV and Varsity girls cross country team competed this weekend in Muskego.  Jesse Rabay stampeded to the finish at the Muskego Warrior invite placing 25th with a great time of 18:19. Kelly “The Ice” Burgland ran a glacial race finishing with a time of 19:26 which was 54 seconds faster than last year’s race time.  The JV girls represented Menomonee Falls with pride as they placed 6th out of 20 teams.

The Varsity girls had Hannah “I’m back” Nelson and Tessa “don’t look back” Estock leading the Falls as they finished 47th and 54th out of 142 runners.  Amanda “sure won’t quit” Schultz and her sister Allison “the fast freshman” ran neck and neck to place 94th and 97th as Allison ran a season personal record with a time of 18:16.  Good luck girls this Friday in Fond du Lac.

 

Attention Those Interested in Boy’s Basketball:

Strength and Conditioning:  3days per week:   Tuesday & Wednesday (7:00-8:15pm).  Friday, right after school (3:15-5:00pm).  Please meet outside the weight room.   

Open Gym follows lifting every Tuesday & Wednesday from 8:15-9:15pm. There is no open gym on Tuesday, September 24th or Tuesday, October 15th, but strength and conditioning will remain as scheduled.  

Attention All Boy’s interested in purchasing basketball shoes –   Please pick up an online order form in the Athletic Office.  All shoe orders must be placed by Thursday.  Purchasing shoes does not guarantee a student placement on the basketball team.
